NEW YORK – Mateo Jewelry was founded by Matthew Harris, who, at the age of 16, arrived in the US from Montego Bay, Jamaica, where he was born and raised. After attending college and completing his course of study, Harris discovered jewelry making – his true passion – in New York City. In 2009, Harris' Mateo New York jewelry company was born. Mateo Jewelry initially focused on men's jewelry designs, with women's styles added later. Today's Mateo Jewelry designer collection encompasses simplicity and minimalism, gathering inspiration from modern art for the modern woman. Each Mateo Jewelry design is fashioned from precious metals with an accordant use of diamonds and gemstones.
