platinum:

A metallic chemical element with the symbol Pt and an atomic number of 78.

This durable metal is remarkably resistant to corrosion and is often used in jewelry for its inertness and shine.

Because of its hardness, it is used for secure stone stettings.

This white metal is preferable to silver because it does not discolor or oxidize.

It is a hypoallergenic metal making it the best metal choice for someone who react to other metals.

Platinum usually contains 90% or 95% pure platinum. A piece of jewelry marked 'plat' is at least 95% platinum.

It is a dense metal, so jewelry made from it will feel heavier.

Platinum is believed to represent determination, grit and resolve.
